This mildly explosive story is centered around the author’s experiences he had growing up in a dysfunctional family as well as an equally conflicted neighbourhood and his struggles to overcome generational curses bought on by forces unknown to him. Throughout his childhood, he predominately witnessed his mother fighting to provide for her family whilst battling demons of the past and present. However, amidst the struggles, he also witnessed her victories and countless other achievements which influenced him to find some measure of purpose for his own life. Although Excerpts from Agostini is a deeply personal story of Frederick’s upbringing, it also showcases social issues which are still a stain in today’s society. This is ultimately an irreverent memoir in which Caribbean readers can relate to as well as the wider Diaspora. Scattered with episodes of local dialect and flooded with the writers own unique style of writing, Excerpts from Agostini gives the reader an unapologetic look into a history of which many may have forgotten and brings new insight to those who may be at odds with their own challenges.
