A foundation of unverifiable assumptions is not very useful when considering policies. Rather, the United States and its allies in Northeast Asia (Japan and South Korea) need to start by asking themselves about their own priorities. For this purpose, they should focus on some critical questions and sub-questions that reveal dilemmas and trade-o s that could arise and potentially present obstacles, and prepare answers based on solid criteria that allows them to distinguish what is negotiable and what is not.
