This is the first book of prose works by Sergei Paradzhanov (Parajanov) (1924-1990), a Georgian artist and film director. Among his the best known films are: The Color of Pomegranates; The Legend of Suram Fortress; and Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors. Several of his film scripts which have never been published are included in this book. One chapter is taken by his letters from the prison (1974-1977). The book is illustrated by Paradzhanov's drawing on the margins of his scripts, his drafts and collages.
