This text offers practical guidance on surgical emergencies for the benefit of trainee and practising surgeons. It describes the practical procedures, decision-making and clinical management of each category of surgical emergency and gives an account of the relevant underlying principles of anatomy, physiology, etc. It can be used both as a practical guide for day-to-day surgical procedure, and in preparing trainees for the FRCS examination. The book is organised by body system, and each chapter contains a list of references for further reading.
