Excerpt from the That a written history of early Roxbury has long been in the minds of many of the Roxbury natives is a well-known fact, but such an accomplishment has been deferred. However, before time obliterates many facts from the minds of our narrators it has been deemed wise to take definite steps to collect such information as could be gathered and put in print for future reference. To this end the late Charles Harley and myself have collected much data and assembled it in historical form. A host of local folk, as well as older Roxbury people who live elsewhere, have contributed much valuable information.
