Catharsis is a collection of poems that reflect Shannon's lifelong experience of coexisting with domestic abuse and her determination to break the cycle for her children, ensuring they do not endure the same upbringing. Despite enduring various forms of abuse throughout her life, Shannon found the strength to end the cycle.
