Author Description

Product Description D. Everett Newell s poetic genius is inspired by his varied experiences of life itself. The most remarkable thing about the poems included in Memories & Reflections is their energy, passion, power of vivid description, and the use of the right word for the right idea. Newell explores a great variety of subjects. One is moved and stimulated by extraordinary images: In life there are no farewells ( Mine Eyes ), A jigsaw puzzle is man made of many different pieces ( Blind Truth ), Guns do not kill, people do ( Columbine Thoughts And Reflections ), the moon and the stars, hear me, I am alive ( Emotional Beings In A Beautiful Land ). Newell as a poet reveals exquisite charm and delicacy of emotions, lucidity of expression, rhythmic felicities and flawless phraseology. He stands high as a poet for his spontaneous use of the magic of language and an exuberant poetic fervour: Frustration and anger are emotional twins ( Frustration, Anger, Emotional Twins ), An Eagle is a natural airplane of flight ( Unfinished Work, Man Is ), To see is to live and to live is to see ( Words ). Santosh Kumar, Editor, Taj Mahal Review About the Author My name is Dennis Everett Newell; I am called in no certain order, Denny, Den, Big D, D Everett, and Dennis. It s funny, but I can usually tell by how someone calls my name, what time in my life we shared. I guess there are many layers to a life that has now spanned 62 years. My middle name, Everett, has been passed down in our family since the Civil War. My great-great-grandfather s name was Darius Newell, who named his son Silas Everett Newell, my great-grandfather. He in turn named his son John Everett Newell, my grandfather, who then in turn named my dad, John Everett Newell Jr. My dad named me Dennis Everett Newell, and my son is Corey Everett Newell.
