Author Description

The anthologies of Poets Corner cannot be called casual activities. They are a noteworthy step taken by a group who can rightfully be called the nation s upcoming poets. Their first anthology Gestures presented some well crafted poems like They Will Be Killed, The Perfect Being, The Nonet, You My Son Forever and Marriage Date No. 11. The present bouquet of poems Love in Verses has maintained this specialty along with some fresh ways of phrasing and crafting poetic muses. What is unique about the anthologies of Poets Corner is, it comes from an energetic group whose thoughts occupy different arenas of the 21st century sociocultural affairs. They have spoken their minds through the media of poetry and perhaps their doing away with traditional poetic grammar at times, has given rise to appealing poetic constructions. Often, similar themes have been explored in a number of ways, sometimes by the same poet and sometimes by different poets in this compilation. This fact provides space for a wider array of interpretations and understanding. They also offer an attentiongrabbing route taking a reader where he might unite his own feelings to any particular construal. Their inspiration is undeniably the Indian scenario and their style of penning weaves through the silk of Indian English. The 20 poets in this collection have their own specialties in their poems which might not be masterpieces but are quite wellbrought- up in their diction and use of the poetic medium. There are certain similarities among the poets in this anthology and there are salient differences too which perhaps make this book a bit more appealing to poetry lovers. Variety among a common theme adds to the flavour of this anthology.
