Author Description

To see and experience the full spectrum of life is rare. To be able to write about it and share it with others, rarer still. These poems, at once simple and complex, take us into a myriad of places and thoughts and reading them is like looking at the world through a multi-faceted crystal. Philosophy, nature, faith, humour, love - all closely observed and generously given back to us by a poet whose soul was 'rhythm reared'. The surprises, insights and mysteries in these poems make them a pleasure to read. - Dr. Alyson Hallett Rudi Jackson was a man of infinite talents and wide interests. Schooled in the classics, he was brought up in a bohemian atmosphere and remained joyfully eccentric for the rest of his life. However, his somewhat erratic lifestyle at an early age gave him a deeper insight into life's vicissitudes, and this is reflected in the many writings here - the keen perception, simple compassion and calm acceptance of every facet of living. These poems, stories and essays span seventy years of writing and give a sense of the way he saw, heard and felt the life that ebbed and flowed around him. It is hoped that they will draw the reader into the realms of beauty and serenity he experienced during his journey on earth.
