The Selfless Father shows how a father can take on a non-traditional role in the household and still fulfill his God-given purpose for himself and his family. Author Dr. John West challenges the idea that a man has to be the sole bread winner of his home to provide safety and security. Looking at things from a godly perspective, Dr. West explains what type of role model a Christian father should portray in and out of his home. Specifically speaking, he weighs the pros and cons of working full- / parttime with becoming a stay-at-home parent. He outlines the steps a man can take to become the father he may not have had himself, including why it's important for a man's home to reflect his faith how a man can control combustible emotions capable of destroying his family why it's imperative that a man understand his true, God-given identity many other topics that can help any willing father become the cornerstone his family can always depend on. Dr. West is a full-time parent, author, and active leader in the men's ministry at his local church. He is a veteran of the armed forces, and he served in the Air National Guard during his early college years. He holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from Boise State University, as well as a masters and doctorate degree in ministry from the Jacksonville Theological Seminary. He and his wife, who was not only raised without a father but without her mother as well, hope to adopt more children someday. Their mission is to provide a better opportunity in life for children who have been left by the wayside in society. They want to teach children that they, too, are children of God and are capable of doing extraordinary things with the gifts they've been given. Life may start out as a struggle, but that doesn't mean it can't end up in victory."
