Author Description

Silent Screams is a story of hope. It's an ugly but beautiful journey of disturbed child Norman Jones fighting to preserve his love and protect his innocence from physical and mental abuse at home and the threat of rejection and violence on the streets. Norman transcends a world where imaginary friends teach eight-year-olds how to escape hellish pain by torturing helpless animals, where twelve-year-olds confront questions of survival and revenge, where four-year-olds are coached by family to commit fraud, and where babies become the objects of sexual abuse and women and children the targets of physical assault. Abandoned instead of nurtured, thrown more than once into homelessness by family and friends, beaten down by hopelessness and fear, and forced into a desperate fight to protect his four-year-old daughter from the same destructive cycle of abuse, ignorance, and self-destructive behavior from which he himself had escaped, Norman presents himself with a question: "Who are you going to become?"
