The landscape of Canada is enriched by thousands of varieties of flowering plants - from fragile glacier lilies strewn over a Rocky Mountain ridge to silver birches towering from an Ontario swamp, or the field mustard splashing brilliant yellow across fields from coast to coast. This beautifully illustrated guide contains 116 species to be found in Canada's woodlands, wetlands, prairies, meadows, and alpine tundra. Each flower is presented in three ways: by a colour photograph by the internationally renowned wildlife photographer Tim Fitzharris; by a description of the plant's characteristics, functions, growing conditions and range; and by a detailed drawing of the entire plant. Tim Fitzharris' introduction contains botanical and ecological information, and offers hints for observing and photographing plants. The book includes two indexes, one of scientific and one of common names, and there is a helpful glossary of botanical terms.
