Author Description

The author has traced nurses' efforts to bridge the gap between the theory and the reality of practice, culminating in the creation of the role of clinical teacher. The research provides the historical backdrop for future developments, particularly pertinent in view of the need for clinical teaching despite the UKCC decision in 1987 no longer to recognise new qualifications for clinical teachers.
