This book presents an analysis of changes in cropping patterns in the semi-arid tropics of India. It addresses the impact of trade liberalization in agriculture on the efficiency and resource cost of indigenous production vis-a-vis imports and consequently on India's self-sufficiency in oilseeds, pulses, and cotton.
