In November of 1977, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada left this mortal world surrounded by hundreds of his beloved disciples. The formal cause for his departure was a heart attack complicated by kidney failure and diabetes. Twenty years later a rumor began that alleged his departure was due to an intricately planned, secret plot, masterminded by his most trusted disciples, to poison him with an elixir of exotic heavy metals. The Poison Conspiracy (PCON) sounded completely absurd to those who lovingly nursed the founder of the Hare Krishna movement through the predictable death trajectory that is typical when one's organs fail. Nonetheless; An investigation was launched confirming that the rumor was frivolous, contrived and mean spirited. Having no court-worthy evidence to proceed, a few disillusioned individuals conceived of a massive propaganda campaign to undermine the faith of the innocent. They alleged that the individuals responsible for this murder were overwhelmed by a lust for power, destroyed the evidence, and used their influence to cover up an alleged crime that rivals even the most imaginary fictional murder plots ever written. DECEPTION explores the type of dysfunction that lies at the foundation of all conspiracy theories conceived in the shadows of controversial events. Behavioral scientists have observed that these fictitious dramas fulfill an emotional need left vacant in the lives of those conditioned by fear, humiliation, pain, disillusionment, angst, frustration or a deep need to be heard and recognized at any cost. In this case, the cost is attempting to severely disrupt the operations of the worlds largest publisher and distributor of the ancient sacred Vedic literatures so badly needed in this world spinning out of control.
