Asia is in ferment. It has been bubbling with episodes of economic growth. The resurgence of the continent as economic powerhouses has thrust upon Asia the ubiquitous quest for asserting its political influence in world affairs that has remained so far the privy of the developed West. The West Asia-Persian Gulf region is abuzz with intense volatility. Surging oil prices coupled with rising Islamism has pushed the region to as incredulous nadir. similarly, emergence of independent countries in Central Asia-Caspian with their resource bounty, has catapulted that part of Aisa to incredible limelight. The rise of China and India coupled with instability in Afghanistan and Pakistan has riveted all eyes on unfolding events there. South East Asia is not lagging far behind either. It is agile with unraveling developments in many aspects and agog to embrace aia as it unfolds itself in a unique fashion. The sum total of a blossoming Asia with its myriad socio-economic problems, set in tradition in the midst of backwardness, is a telling saga. Progress and growth have made the continent as allure for investment and this has made Asia travel farther and rise further. India in the centre of it marvelously relate itself t these developments. This book is an attempt to highlighting some of the issues of resurgent Asia as the continent itself enters into making this century a 'Asian Century'.
