The twenty-two contributing authors are college professors, professional musicians, authors, shamans, ministers, and all things in between. We grew up on farms, in wooded environments, in cities, and in suburbia. We come from Christian, Pagan, American Indian, a conglomeration of many traditions, or no religious/spiritual path at all. As diverse as we are, we have one thing in common—our deep connection with Nature. This relationship runs deeper than race, sex, political leaning, religion, and nationalism. It is our relationship to the Earth, to our indigenous roots, where a part of us remembers and we all sing the same song … the Uni-verse.We have shared the ways that nature has shaped our lives, providing the “true north” with which to navigate our lives. If you spend time with each chapter, our belief is that you will glimpse a bit of who we are and begin to find your own connection. Some of the authors have also shared short ceremonies, rituals, or practices because we know that not everyone has experience tapping into nature. We share some of what we do to connect, but as one author, Kyle, mentions, “Non-method is what I believe we need rather than another round of step-by-step things. The problem with a formalized method is the expectation of a result. No practice works the same way for any two people, and sometimes there is no result at all, which can be frustrating. But, what I will say is that if you commit to whatever you are drawn to, whether practice or non-practice, and really give it time, eventually you will discover something about yourself and nature.”The most important thing is that we are no different from any of you. Nature doesn’t judge you based on your virtues, who you are, how much money you have, or what you’ve done. That is what we do to ourselves. Nature will show up if you do. If your intent is clear and your ego stilled enough, the opportunity for an amazing relationship will appear … and your world will never be the same. This book is an
