The theme of this historical novel deals with “the resilient frontier spirit”--the tenacity and fortitude of settlers to overcome life's challenges on the frontier (1864-1885). It is also based on the life of the longest-practicing Military Post Trader in American frontier history. The Military Post Trader, also known as the "sutler," was an early American entrepreneur who helped America settle the West.
