Yellowstone Nat. Park is a 3,450-sq.-mile region of mountainous terrain in the NW corner of Wyoming. Within it, the visitor will see active hot springs, geysers, & mud volcanoes, all remnants of the park's volcanic past. The birth of our first nat. park did not occur by chance. Five men unveiled her mysteries: Ferdinand Hayden, a gov't. geologist; Montana banker Nathaniel Langord; Jay Cooke, one of Pennsylvania's richest financier; William Henry Jackson, who took the first photos of the Yellowstone; & artist Thomas Moran.
