Author Description

Recollections of people and events from my childhood and youth in post-World War 2 rural central Texas, these carry forward images of unique people and their impact on those with whom they shared life. And while these are from a very specific time and place, I believe they have significance for all who grew to adulthood during that period, no matter their hometown. Though quite personal in nature and containing stories and lessons from my own family, I serve only as storyteller here to recall and perhaps remind an entire community of the colorful individuals who were memorable characters central to life in Clifton, Texas. Their life experiences in Depression and the Second World War forged in them courage, tenacity and humor, in addition to the soul-values of hope and faith, with which they gifted their world. They merit our honor and respect through our recollections and retelling of their stories.
