The Solar System is a gravitationally bound system consisting of the Sun and objects that orbit it. It formed as the result of the gravitational collapse of a giant interstellar molecular cloud. The Sun is the center of the Solar System, containing the vast majority of its mass. The other planets and moons, including the Moon, make up the remaining mass.
