Memory disorders occur in people with a variety of diagnoses, such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, aneurysm, brain tumor, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis. To optimize clients' levels of independence in the everyday world, occupational therapy professionals must help them compensate for their memory problems. However, successful treatment for memory deficits is not simply a matter or recommending that a client get a personal organizer; indeed, it is much more complex, involving much time and hard work. This practical book outlines the elements of the systematic approach that can be used when working with clients to implement compensations for their memory impairments.
