March of the Animals is a story about friendship, family, loss, and an almost impossible quest for freedom in a world where the mass slaughter and regularised abuse of animals takes place on a daily basis. Following Georgie, a young female hedgehog, we are led on a journey of dark discovery as modern-day life in London is revealed from Georgie's unique perspective. Georgie travels the city searching for food and shelter for her family and meets Rabbit, Ottie the otter, Tyson - a fighting bull mastiff and many others along the way, each of whom has suffered at the hands of humanity. Georgie is watched by Frish and Cole, two wood pigeons, who take her to visit the Great Mungus, an ancient owl who lives alone in the countryside. The mysterious owl reveals the grim secrets of the countryside including three terrifying slaughterhouses. Georgie awakens from a troubled hibernation and decides to act. Assembling a small group of friends, she explains that the only way to change the endless suffering of the animals is to show the humans a better reality - one in which they can all live together in harmony. The final chapters of the book build to an unforgettable and dramatic conclusion...
