The Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission (AADAC), an agency of the Government of Alberta, is mandated by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Act to provide programming and services that address alcohol, tobacco, other drug, and gambling problems. In 2002, AADAC initiated The Alberta Youth Experience Survey (TAYES) to measure youth substance use and gambling behaviour and associated risk and protective factors. AADAC commenced the second cycle of TAYES in 2005. This report summarizes the results of the 2005 survey with coparative results from 2002. The results reveal differences in use and behaviour patterns by gender, grade, and regional groups. TAYES 2005 also identifies the prevalence of harmful use of substances and gambling.--Includes text from document.
