Ugly duckling" Jane Marshall has a very tough life, struggling to get through nursing school and coping with an alcoholic mother. She's all alone in the world except a beautiful old woman at the nursing home she works at. After a horrible traffic accident, Jane wakes up in the hospital only to find that her friend has died and left her the means to start an entirely new life. She leaves for Montana where she meets Tray, who helps her learn to love and trust again.
