Of what can we compare the love of God? A love so kind, unreserved, and benevolent. -A refreshing rain after a hot and humid summer's day. The sun setting, tangerine and crimson, in a clear and rain-washed sky. All is calm and cooled again. All is forgiven. Or, what of the benevolent breeze He sends flitting through the forest? The leaves made to dance while on a mountaintop run? -Leaves unfurling their gifts of cleansing breath; reinvigorating oxygen offered out on cupped leaves, and dangling leaf buds and tiny florets foretelling of a continuation of clean air yet to come. We do not have to tarry far and wide, combing the whole earth for signs of His benevolent love. Always it is there, here, suspended sweet and quiet-like in creation...waiting. -Waiting all the while for us to visit, for us to take pause and note to notice, whereupon, once discovered, it can then lavish us in its storehouse chocked full of love. -Creation unleashing; the walking, roaming, running created one, absorbing. This creation, this benevolent love, growing ripe and supple and plentiful on uncharted paths where wild blackberries glisten like amethyst gems and endless raspberry bushes blush in waiting to be plucked, tasted, savored by the passerby snacking and sampling His love. -His benevolent love. A love that waits, unweighty and unending, for us to discover it.
