
I have discovered therapeutic 'gems' in my many years as a Speech and Language Pathologist. I care to share these gems with the world as time constraints and budget cuts have contributed to decreased standards in medical services delivery. Here are exercises and drills for lips, cheeks, tongue and throat, to get you swallowing better. My patients got better. There have been many times during my contracting years that I arrived at a facility, met a dysphagia patient during their last swallowing session, and they have not improved since their initial evaluation. Still coughing and choking while eating because the swallowing treatment was not enough, not strenuous enough, not drilled enough. Do these exercises to make your muscles warm up and strengthen. Do an obstacle course, or combine them up to 3 sets, 3x daily. Drill Drill Drill. Let your therapist help select the exercises best for your improvement or use this book to maintain your swallowing abilities if you are already familiar. Add and write in other exercises you discover. You walk to improve muscle tone in your legs, do these exercises to tone your tiny tiny muscles for eating and swallowing. Best wishes.
