Leah is twenty when she meets Mr. Right. Although he is only the second man she has ever dated, Leah has no reason to believe Shalom is anything other than a good, kind, and generous soul. Even as their relationship is just beginning and distance separates them, Leah has no doubt that he is the man she will marry. However, when Shalom's behavior turns abusive, Leah is filled with self-doubt, confusion, and depression. Leah must now come to terms with the fact that the man she loves and wants to marry is abusive. She is approached with confusion on all sides, especially when her family doesn't want to believe in Shalom's abusive behavior. Leah must look inside of herself to find the strength to overcome the situation. In this novel based on true events, a young Jewish woman who becomes embroiled in an abusive relationship over the course of several years must somehow find the strength to overcome the pain and allow her heart to open up again.
