
Working with cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) has always been a source of great pride for health professionals. Above all, because this segment in psychotherapy is generally described as the clinical evolution of academic research and, thus, was born, according to many authors in the cradle of science. Also because it is pointed out by certain Clinical Evidence - a manual that counts the best indications of therapeutic efficacy - as a reference in the treatment of approximately 85% of psychological disorders. Therefore, in a universe of almost 900 different lines in psychotherapy, reaching this mark should not have been an occasional feat. Today, CBT goes hand in hand and dialogues with various branches of knowledge, which inevitably gave it, unless it was more a conduit, making it one of the largest and most important theoretical-practical structures in intervention and one of the leaders in publications among its cousins-sisters of the family of psychotherapies. On the other hand, this scenario was very different a few decades ago. Calling yourself a cognitive-behavioral therapist in Brazil has come at a price. In a period when other theoretical lines governed the empire of changes in psychological clinic, establishing oneself required strenuous work. In true, it was not uncommon, and even, to notice the existence of psychotherapeutic fiefs that called themselves superior because of their so strong and best skills. and was like that claimed the most effective position in managing personal change.
