Although not in that initial wave of the compact car invasion force that hit America's shores in the 1950's, Toyota has surged from a late start to a position of great dominance among today's imports. Toyota has achieved this status through innovative design, careful manufacture, thorough distribution and reliable parts and service backup. All this did not happen overnight. It was a long and arduous climb to their present position. Toyota owners have become both devoted and legion. For most of them the owner's booklet in their glove compartment is too superficial, while at the same time the hard-to-get factory service manual is too deep.
