The Cistercian abbey was built in 1246. Its abbots had seats in the Council of Brabant. In 1795, the powerful influence of the abbey declined due to French invasion. This book tells about the love story during the 17th century of a boy who became a priest and a girl who became a nun. It describes the life inside of the abbey as seen and experienced by the young lovers. Walter Maes was born in Schelle, Belgium. He wrote short stories in his youth. He worked for forty years in a company that imports and exports goods until his retirement in 2002.
