Like most tough jobs, parenting can be broken down into smaller, doable jobs to help us successfully accomplish our goals. The Model – The actions and behaviors of the parents will directly either strengthen or inhibit their children’s growth as individuals. “What behaviors will my children learn from me?” The Mentor – Parents must actively work to mold the child in the ways that seem best. “What can I teach my child?” The Guide – Parents must actively work to mold the child in the ways that seem best. “What must I ensure that my child learns?” The Psalmist says of God’s command in Psalm 78:4, “We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.” (KJV) Author Information: Dale Sadler earned his Bible degree from Freed-Hardeman University and his master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Western Kentucky University.
