"Although traditionally, writing memoirs, as this genre is understood in the Western world, especially women's memoirs, has been relatively rare in Persian, since the latter years of the 20th century, an increasing number of women from various classes began to write about their own experiences over the previous four or five decades. Many of these memoirs are by well-known literary and artistic figures as well as political and social activists. A number of memoirs have also been written or coauthored by women, often from economically lower or lower middle classes, who were in some ways active in the 1978-79 Islamic Revolution in Iran and, in particular, in connection with the Iran-Iraq war. The present volume is completely different from all aforementioned cases.
