
Tumaini means “hope” in Swahili. The “Tumaini Way” Social and Emotional Learning curriculum is designed to provide middle and high school students with tools to thrive in college, career, and in life, while positively impacting their communities by challenging systems of oppression and injustice. Our culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and healing centered Social and Emotional Learning Curricula and resources prioritizes social justice and gives students in K-12 the tools to thrive in and out of the classroom. Grounded in interactive, relevant, relatable and innovative activities, our curriculum and programs are designed to provide students with tools to thrive in college, career, and in life, while positively impacting our communities by challenging systems of oppression and injustice. Comprised of 25 interactive lessons each, our resources are the first of its kind in that it is designed on the basis of mindfulness, brain based learning, cognitive behavioral therapy, advocacy, family engagement, social justice, and builds upon the five core Collaborative for Social Emotional Learning (CASEL) competencies and the Positive Youth Development (PYD) framework.
