
In 1954 Addie Mae Ellis was a twenty year old colored girl from a small town in Alabama. Going into her senior year of college she dreamed of leading a life independent from her overprotective Father and emotionally absent mother. Surrounded by a world of segregation and racial violence, Addies only goal is to graduate and leave the south behind her. But on a hot summer evening, an unimaginable and horrific set of events occur that change Addies life forever and forces her into exile. Stripped of her very identity, Addie must live with a dark secret and constant fear that her past may find her.
