"The first 'Spirit of America' comprised text and photos, and won the Sept. 12 Guild's top book award in 2002; the second volume comprised photos. 'Spirt of America, The Third Volume' is a collection of mainly informal photo-portraits. Whether it's John Loengard's view of Stefan Lorant reading, a baby sleeping, family portraits, Royal Friends of America, or our [then] current President campaigning, these portraits communicate about and to Americans and America's friends. As with many previous portraits from AWPA books, souls speak to souls, and here, the communication via camera-lens suggests/evokes empathy and decent camaraderie."
