Do attitudes within the church to abortion match up to biblical teaching, and does it matter? A questionnaire commissioned by The Evangelical Alliance and filled out by Christians in Britain found that their opinions on abortion were broadly similar to responses given by non-Christians. This book challenges us to find out how arguments commonly used to justify abortion actually stand up to scrutiny. It uses scientific and journalistic sources to look into the damage caused by abortion both physically and emotionally, as well as what the Bible has to say about spiritual harms. We find out if the Bible is reliable in this area, comparing what it says to modern discoveries. Finally, we look at the damage done to a nation, with biblical Israel as our model, as well as considering the intrinsic value of human beings, forgiveness and freedom from every sin. It's not enough to decide that abortion is a bad thing, we need to offer viable practical options, and the appendices deal with how the church can help. There is an interview with David Brennan, head of Brephos which is a ministry dedicated to equipping and motivating churches to speak out for the unborn. The aim of this book is to explain why abortion needs to be top of every church agenda and how we can be part of changing expectations.
