One of the challenges of the Church is to maintain openness and confidentiality at the same time: to combat cover-ups and protect the presumption of innocence. This book examies how to make this challengs possible. The study does not treat sexual abuse in the Church as the main subject, but focueses on the reforms made by Pope Francis regarding canon criminal law. Finally, the book proposes accountability and the metaphor of translucency, instead of 'absolute transparence,' as an organic model more appropriate to the nature, purposes and mission of the Church. --Book cover.
