"Jimmietown, KS," is a coming of age story poignantly set in the '50s, in a small Southeast Kansas town called Sugar Loaf. Newly arrived in town, Jimmie-the narrator-is a twelve-year-old whose father is a retired Air Force Chaplain and now the town's newest preacher. As Jimmie ages, he becomes acquainted with the town's characters-some lingering tragically in the aftermath of WWII-some in need of redemption from acts in a painful past-and others uncomfortable with the new realities of racial integration.
