Product Description LET'S SING AND PLAY, Book 1, a method for recorder and wind instruments, is a collection of folk songs and instrumental excerpts. Basic music concepts, such as melodic direction, steps, skips, repeats, intervals, duration and form can be acquired easily and enjoyably through learning experiences provided by LET'S SING AND PLAY. The unique spaced letter notation enables students to play more music and to use complicated rhythm sooner than would be possible with staff notation. The rewards are immediate. There is no drudgery. There is no failure. Because they play more songs they get more practice. They see, hear, and feel with their fingers the patterns and repetitions in the songs, and learn to make comparisons and judgments. They gain a wide repertoire. They learn to play the songs also on keyboards. Rhythm, meter, and phrasing are spaced visually on each page. Thus students can analyze the structure of the songs easily and see the time relationship of notes and words to each beat. Words to songs and symbols for chording are spaced rhythmically. Since children can read the letter notation without adult interpretation they can practice independently.
