Traditionally,haiku was steeped in themes of nature. Fortunately, modern haiku has expanded to include a vast array of topics. In Lazarus’ Ego, it is amazing how three short, simple lines can be so visceral, contain such poignancy and insight, while at other times be infused with humor. It’s clear that Nelson Pla carefully constructed his line breaks, which change the entire meaning, and are very thoughtprovoking.
