The very name of the Kingdom of Nepal conjures up such imageries as the high Himalayas and the Gurkhas, the indomitable peasants, the Kirati-Mongolians of Nepalese alpine region. This is also the land that gave the world the enduring legendary accounts of the prospects of illusive Yeti, the Abominable Snowman and the true mountaineers of all, the Sherpas. It is recorded on the annals of mountaineering that the early mountaineers were surprised at night by a Yeti whose presence almost instantly filled the camp with very unwholesome odour. The Sherpas are familiar with such nocturnal encounters and as they explained the source of the olfactory discomfort to the Englishmen who is known to have coined the sobriquet Abominable Snowman.
