The Education for All movement committed to meet basic learning needs for all children, youth and adults. In the process, the EFA 2000 Assessment was made combining quantitative and qualitative information to get a complete picture of progress in Education for All over the Jomtein decade, 1990-2000. As a part EFA 2000 Assessment, the International Consultative Forum commissioned some global thematic studies. The reports of those thematic studies are presented in this book with the courtesy of UNESCO. The reports presented in this book are the outcome research and writing shared by DFID, SIDA, UNESCO, WHO, World Bank and the NGO Consultative Forum. These are highly authoritative which provide rich insights and judgements about trends and issues that lie at the heart of Education for All movement. Each one provides theoretical vision and practical leadership to education planners and decision makers.
