A traveling preacher roamed the land of Israel, some 2,000 years ago, with a stream of followers. He had no wealth, no title, and no army to command. He relied upon the charity of others for food, water and shelter, as he trekked from town to town, preaching about kindness, forgiveness and salvation. And, he had the power to heal. He cured disease, gave sight to the blind, sound to the deaf, mobility to the lame, and freedom to those who had suffered from lifelong afflictions. He walked on water, cast out demons, and brought dead people back to life. The power of his miracles radiated far beyond the people he healed, transforming the lives of people who merely witnessed the healings, as well as those who had only heard about the miracles. So profound was the impact of his miracles, that the impact itself has echoed through the centuries and into the present time. He inspired his followers to do something that few people did in ancient times -- to become biographers, to write down a record of his teachings, his miracles, and other events of his ministry, to be handed down from generation to generation. The miracle worker, of course, was Jesus of Nazareth. And his followers recorded the miracles in what is now the world's most published and circulated book -- the Bible. The writers of the four Gospels, which are a part of the New Testament of the Bible, provided accounts of 46 events in which Jesus performed miracles of healing and control over nature. This book, Jesus The Miracle Worker, explains each of those miracles, providing context, insight and analysis for a fuller understanding of the one person, who, throughout all of history, is uniquely revered as a miracle worker.
