The present, volume is a collection of articles, reports, editorials, news items and letters by correspondents which were published in important newspapers and journals (including medical journals) published from Calcutta. The volume seeks to highlight the public health problems of Colonial Calcutta and the role of the Calcutta Corporation in solving them. The volume covers the period 1923 to 1947. There was a need for such a competent compilation.
