Author Description

Drawn from ten different Indian languages, this collection of eighteen plays by women constitutes a significant intervention of gender in the discourse of Indian theatre. The volume brings together the work of eminent playwrights and writers: from Malatibai Bedekar, Swarnakumari Devi, Usha Ganguli, and Nabaneeta Dev Sen to Catherine Thankamma and C.S. Lakshmi 'Ambai' among others. Each play, in its own way, engages with social issues from a woman's perspective.
