Orphaned siblings Ben and Jennet arrive in the eerie seaside town of Whitby, only to discover their foster mother and her friends are part of a hidden, supernatural world. Ben, gifted with 'the sight,' perceives the mysterious fisher folk beneath the cliffs and realizes Alice Boston is more than she appears. They must uncover the truth behind a growing darkness that threatens to consume the town, a darkness possibly linked to the ancient Abbey or something far more sinister.

The Whitby Witches is lauded as a deeply creepy and utterly compelling dark fantasy, drawing comparisons to the works of Terry Pratchett, Derek Landy, and Susan Cooper. Its gothic atmosphere, set in the shadow of Dracula's domain, is particularly noted for its ability to ensnare readers. The narrative skillfully blends mystery with supernatural elements, creating a suspenseful experience for young readers. The story's strength lies in its ability to evoke a sense of unease and wonder as the protagonists uncover hidden truths.
