This workbook is designed for beginner foreign language students who want to start learning to write traditional Chinese characters. Here, you will not only be able to practice your Chinese writing, you will also learn new vocabulary at the same time! Our concept is that rather than just learning each character separately, it is beneficial for a Chinese learner to learn how each character can combine with another character to create meaning. This book contains: Introduction to Chinese characters, the vocabulary, and traditional vs simplified A vocabulary directory detailing all the words in the workbook (including pinyin, english, and the simplfied versions of the words) Characters writing practice pages for the 400 most common Chinese words Why learn traditional characters? Many characters were left untouched by simplification and are thus identical between the traditional and simplified Chinese. Once you master traditional characters, it will be very easy to write in the simplfied version. So why not learn in traditional first? You will impress your friends and family, not to mention the whole chinese community. If you want to go into international business, it will be very useful to know both traditional and simplified. For example, Singapore and Taiwan both use traditonal characters, and both places are large business hubs. Traditional versions of characters shows the enduring historical and cultural value of Hanzi (chinese characters).
