From Library Journal Dan, General Ariel Sharon's "media adviser," offers a highly partisan, I-was-there account of the general's recent libel action against Time magazine, which centered on the allegation that Sharon had encouraged the vengeful 1982 massacre of Palestinian civilians by Israeli-backed Phalangist soldiers. Time 's personnel and tactics are bitterly assailed and the outcome of the case is derided as unfair (the magazine's charges against Sharon were found to be defamatory but not due to deliberate malice). A very different treatment of the Sharon affair can be obtained in Renata Adler's thoughtful Reckless Disregard ( LJ 2/1/87). Kenneth F. Kister, Pinellas Park P.L., Fla.
