After decades of research the author published in 2000, the first volume of Urs Schmid's two-volume monumental work for XK 120, in which he deals in words and pictures with all aspects of the illustrious ancestor of the Jaguar post-war sports car. The reader is led back to the glittering days of the English automobile industry in the early fifties. This is followed by a detailed comparison of the model features and body styles, and finally the main part of the work, in which the stages of technical development are dealt with in chronological order. With meticulous thoroughness and attention to detail, as they have hardly ever been awarded a single model series of a car brand, mechanical and electrical components, the standard accessories and the body components are presented in all their many variations.
